Messaria village is situated the center of Santorini island. Its existence is recorded back to the middle of 17th century. During the 19th century Messaria was the center of industry in Santorini. An impressive landmark is the old Markezinis knitting factory. The original architecture of the village is interesting, a combination of stately homes and domed shape cave houses tunneled into the volcano rock. Messaria is vineyard village.

Canava Santorini

The only ouzo and liquor distillery of the island, that also features a museum depicting scenes of Santorini’s recent past and traditional workplaces demonstrations. Tasting of ouzo, tsikoudia and local liquor is a must- live experience. Canava Santorini was established in 1974 on Santorini island by Evagellos Lygnos. Today his son Loukas Lygnos still produces Canava Santorini’s fine spirits with the same principles and the same local materials. The same recipes inherited through generations are still being used.

Argyros Mansion

Argyros Mansion, is the only restored and open to the public mansion in Santorini. In the heart of the island, the village of Messaria, once the winemaking center of Santorini, the part that the delicious vinsanto wine and the commercialization of Santorinian wines gave a different tone in the everyday life of the island with an aura of glamour and wealth that characterized the 19th century in Santorini. The aesthetic of this era is reflected beautifully and perfectly in the premises of Argyros Mansion.
