Riva Port
Riva (the settlement of Agia Irini) is the port of Thirasia at the northern end of the island. Here ships tie up, and so do the small ferry boats called pantofles, or slippers, which connect Santorini with Thirasia. There are also daily connections with Santorini using small boats called “lantza” that start from Ammoudi in Oia, and arrive in Riva and Korfos.
Potamos
Built in a valley like Agrilia, Potamos (which means “River”) has managed so far to keep its few inhabitants. The beautiful little blue and white houses, the brightly colored churches (we counted five), and the caves are the special features of this traditional settlement.
Manolas
The main settlement of Thirasia, Manolas is built on the brow of the steep slope of the caldera (volcanic crater). Quiet and picturesque, it is an ideal destination for those seeking a brief escape from the tourist crowds of Santorini. Two hundred seventy steps connect it with its seaport, the picturesque harbor of Korfos.
Kera Village
The abandoned small settlements of Upper and Lower Kera, 500 meters north of the Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. As in the area around the Prophet Elias Church and the Monastery, so here an archaeological study indicates significant ancient settlement sites in the region. Only a shepherd with goats lives here today.
